Scandinavian white kitchen in a cotswald cottage

This week I’ve stumbled upon my dream holiday cottage, The Stone Cottage, full of modern Scandinavian charm and featuring a wonderful minimal white kitchen but which is located in the buzzing Cotswald town of Stow-on-the-Wold ! This wonderful cosy property instantly grabbed me with it’s gorgeous, pared back white kitchen, exposed oak beams and open shelving, that creates a calm space. I love the way the off white cabinetry is paired with the oak countertop that just works so well with the warm toned stone floor. There is a traditional AGA which gives the kitchen rustic warmth and the retro Smeg fridge brings a genius pop of colour to the neutral scheme. This is definately a kitchen that you could imagine settling in with the papers, a good coffee and a croissant or two !

Those wonderful oak beams make an appearance in the master bedroom again with the same light touch here that creates such a calm and light filled space. The rustic milking stools used as bedside tables work wonderfully with the characterful beams and the ochre bedspread brings warmth to the colour story. The chunky country style chest of drawers are a perfect choice for this English country bedroom with a Scandi design hotel soul !

The cottage’s second bedroom is delightful, the warmth of the honey Cotswald stone and the deep ocean colours of the quilt are fresh and inviting. The wrought iron head board stays true to the cottage’s heritage.

I love how the same colour story in the bedrooms is brought into the cosy living room with the turquoise throw and warm tan furniture. The lounge chair is a beautifully understated piece that perfectly bridges Scandinavian design and classic country comfort. It’s a chair that feels as suited to quiet reading moments as it does to anchoring the room visually.

The room as a whole is a thoughtful marriage of Scandinavian restraint and English country cottage charm. The exposed stone fireplace and rustic beams remind you that the house is in the Cotswalds. In contrast, the crisp white walls and built-in shelving introduce the clean, functional aesthetic typical of Nordic interiors. The furniture follows this same dialogue: simple forms, natural materials, and a neutral palette, punctuated by warm, earthy tones like the leather seating.

This is a gorgeous relaxing room what feels like a cosy heritage cottage with strong Scandinavian influence.

This cosy cottage sits perfectly into it’s environment in Stow-on-the-Wold which looks like something lifted straight from the pages of a classic English tale. This market town is full of life, with a lovely mix of independent cafés, artisan bakeries, stylish boutiques, and inviting restaurants—offering all the ease and comfort of a small town while still feeling special.

I would love a lazy weekend here of wandering around limestone streets without a plan, popping into little coffee shops and doing a bit of antiquing … traditional pubs are also plentiful to offer the perfect place to pause and soak up the atmosphere.

This cosy English cottage that has been decorated with a Scandinavian touch would be a perfect base.
